Under 19 Years of Age – School Age Graduation
If you are under 19 years of age, you are on the 80 credit graduation program. A minimum of 80 credits received in Grades 10, 11 and 12 are required for graduation.
48 of the 80 credits are Required Ministry Authorized Courses for Grade 10, 11 and 12
28 credits are Elective Courses for Grade 10, 11 and 12, of which 16 credits must be at the grade 12 level and include Language Arts 12 and
4 credits for an Indigenous Education course

Over 19 Years of Age – Adult Graduation (20 credits)

To be eligible for the Adult Graduation Diploma, a person must be 19 years or older, or 18 years old and out of school for at least a year, with approval from the enrolling institution. To graduate, adult students must earn a minimum of 20 credits from at least five courses, worth four credits each including:
Adult Graduation 20 credits
1 Language Arts 12………………………………….. 4 credits

3 Grade 12 courses………………………………….. 12 credits or
2 Grade 12 courses………………………………….. 8 credits and
1 Social Studies 11 or BC First Nations 12……… 4 credits
Three courses must be taken as an adult, over 19 years of age. Prior Learning Assessments may be used to meet any of the requirements for the Adult Diploma. Prior Learning Assestments involves a variety of techniques including equivalency reviews, challenge processes, in-depth interviews, exemption processes, etc.
Students in both the College ABE and Secondary Graduation Programs will have the option of writing the provincial exams for all provincially examinable courses.
Approved courses in either the Ministry of Education or in the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology may be used towards the BC adult Graduation Diploma.
